News releases about accomplishments are intended to promote accomplishments that have NOT been otherwise publicized. If information about an accomplishment is sent to media and covered by media BEFORE a news release is issued, that will decrease the likelihood of being included in a university news release.
Faculty/staff accomplishments are recognized in the Accomplishments section. Certain accomplishments are also recognized through news releases or faculty/staff updates.
Information about faculty/staff accomplishments should be sent to university communications. Or they may be submitted online.
Individual news releases will be issued for the following types of accomplishments:
- Having a book published
- National, multi-state or statewide recognition or award
- Appointment to a national board or committee
- Some large, highly-competitive national grants
The following types of accomplishments will be included in faculty/staff updates, which combine several accomplishments in one news release:
- New grant awards of greater than $5,000
- Local recognition or award
- Appointment to a statewide board or committee
The following types of accomplishments will be posted to the university news page under accomplishments:
- Publication of an article in a magazine or journal
- Publication of a chapter in a book
- Presentations at a conference or convention
- New grant awards under $5,000
- Renewal or continuation of grants
- Departmental or individual awards that do not fit within another category
- Appointments or elections to local boards or committees
- Appointment of new department heads and directors
