Safety and Transportation

  1. SAFETY INSPECTIONS

    Training--Shared responsibility. Initial training in safety inspections will be conducted by Public Safety Officers of the Department of Safety and Transportation, Springfield Campus. After completion of the initial training, the West Plains/Mountain Grove Campus will conduct periodic inspections in the below-listed areas:

    Emergency Lighting - All emergency lighting in each building will be checked semiannually to include AC and DC current; inoperable bulbs and/or batteries will be replaced.

    Fire Extinguishers - A monthly inspection of each fire extinguisher to include pin, tie, gauge, and initial attached card, will be conducted. Annual inspections and maintenance will be conducted by an outside authorized agency.

    Fire Alarm Systems - Initial inspection of systems to include location, necessary keys to open, reset and close. Annually, a physical test of each fire alarm pull station will be conducted to determine if all components are in good working order.

    General Safety of Buildings - General observation of buildings for safety hazards. Annual inspections will be conducted for fire hazards, obstacles in hallways, loose handrails and stair treads, blocking of emergency exits, and general housekeeping practices.

  2. PARKING

    Security Office Parking System--Shared responsibility. The West Plains Campus will be granted limited access to the Security Office Parking System to be able to determine who a vehicle is licensed to based on the Missouri Department of Revenue records.

    Parking Regulations – Will be established for each campus. Regulations for Shannon Hall in Mt. Grove will be established by the West Plains campus.

    Parking Policy – Will be established for each campus and presented to the Board of Governors for approval, as required. Parking policies for Shannon Hall in Mt. Grove will be established by the West Plains campus.

    Ticket Appeals – The ticket appeal process will be handled by the campus where the violation occurred.
