The field and classroom experiences in Missouri State University's BSW and MSW programs prepare students for careers in this interesting and demanding profession.
Program graduates accept direct service, as well as management positions, in a variety of social, human service agencies and organizations: the Division of Family Services; the Division of Youth Services; juvenile court; nursing homes; home health-care agencies; hospitals; child welfare; schools; policy and advocacy organizations; and programs that work with high-risk youth; victims of domestic violence and substance abuse. Many of these placements are in Springfield, yet our graduates also choose employment outside of the region and the state.
Social work has been identified as one of the careers most in demand in the 21st century. Through the School of Social Work, Missouri State demonstrates a commitment to meeting the world's need — both locally and globally.
