Safe Zone

Our Mission

Missouri State Univeristy has designed a Safe Zone program developed to educte, support, and create a safe campus community that accepts gender and sexual diversity. The SafeZone Ally training is developed for the Missouri State community including: faculty, staff, and students.  The training will provide individuals with the tools, resources, and information required to establish a safe and welcoming campus community for our lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, and ally campus community population.  After completion individual will be given the opportunity to sign an Ally Commitment, thus making the "Safe Zone Trained" and ready to make a difference at Missouri State University.

Goals of MSU Safe Zones

  1. Raise awareness of LGBTQIQ issues.
  2. To promote a welcoming and inclusive campus community for LGBTQIQ individuals.
  3. To train and maintain 10-15 Safe Zone Facilitators who will be certified to conduct Safe Zone workshops on campus. 
  4. Provide Training materials to students, faculty, and staff Safe Zone llies, so that they may serve as resources for member of the campus community
