National Student Employment Week

The National Student Employment Association dedicates the first full week in April to recognizing student employees across the nation. Missouri State University will take part in this national appreciation week for the second time in 2014.

April 7-11, 2014 will mark our second annual National Student Employment Week.

 

Events for 2014

The Student Employment Office is hosting a variety of events in recognition of National Student Employment Week, including the Student Employee of the Year Award,  Office Decorating, Thank You Post Cards, and Coupons for Students. 

Student Employee of the Year Award

The Student Employee of the Year Award is given to one exceptional student worker to congratulate them and thank them for their hard work and dedication.  Nominees and nominators will be invited to our Student Employee of the Year event that will be separate from the STAR Awards. 

Selection Criteria
Students will be evaluated on the following characteristics:

  1. Reliability
  2. Quality of Work
  3. Initiative
  4. Professionalism
  5. Uniqueness of Contribution

The student winning the award will not only receive special recognition from Missouri State University at the STAR awards, but will also have the chance to be recognized at the state, regional, and national level. 

Awards 

  • Missouri State University winner will receive a certificate and congratulatory letter from MASEA as well as the STAR Award
  • State winners will receive a certificate and check for $75.00
  • The MASEA regional winner will receive a plaque and a check for $150.00
  • The MASEA winner will be submitted for the NSEA Student Employee of the Year Program
  • The National winner will receive a cash award of $1,000

Office Decorating

Any office that would like to decorate their space to show their appreciation for their student workers can sign up to participate in the Office Decorating Contest. Offices must be decorated by 5pm Monday, April 7th and judging will take place Tuesday, April 8th in the afternoon. The winner will be notified by Thursday and be presented with a trophy. Judging criteria is linked here.  We strongly encourage your office to make the best use of recycled materials already in your office.

The Office of the Registrar won the "Best Place to Work" Trophy for 2013.
