Online program prepared Bear for "virtual environment"

Misty Freeman knew she wanted to be a Bear ever since she visited in the fourth grade, and she finally got the chance with Missouri State's project management program.

Why I chose MSU: I always wanted to be a Bear. In fourth grade I actually got to come to MSU for a day and hear a lecture. I told myself then I wanted to be a Bear. I moved away, and when I decided I wanted to further my career, I looked into MSU. The project management program was exactly what I was looking for and I knew it would help me succeed.

How the program helped me start my career: I did my master’s program completely online. I did all of my group projects online, via email. The program really prepared me for my job now, where I work from home and have to use the virtual environment.

Favorite part of MSU experience: I came to campus to walk at graduation. It was one of my proudest moments. It was almost surreal; when you’re doing the program online, you aren’t coming into class every day. It was breathtaking to be there for the ceremony and see how far I had come.

What I do at work: I’m the only project manager for our entire company, which is awesome. I work from home with my dog serving as my secretary and security. Every single day is different. I get to change projects and clients as days and weeks go by, there’s never any chance to get bored.

How I stay connected to MSU: Every time my husband and I are near Springfield, I always ask to swing by campus and see if the bookstore is open. I love wearing my BearWear at home and showing my Bear pride. You can always catch me in an MSU hoodie.
