The purpose of the Missouri State Auction is to raise money for the enhancement of every aspect of the intercollegiate athletics programs at Missouri State University while also providing high energy, visible and fun events that promote involvement with, and support of, the men’s and women’s intercollegiate athletics programs. The Missouri State Auction originated in 1987. During the twenty-four year history of this event, the annual net profit has grown in excess of $100,000 annually. Every single sport in the Missouri State men’s and women’s intercollegiate athletics program has benefited directly from the money raised by past auctions. The quality of these programs could not have been maintained without the continuing support of our many fans throughout southwest Missouri region, in a variety of ways, including the annual Missouri State Auction! The following is a list of the things supplemented or purchased with money raised by the Missouri State Auction:
- Academic advisement/enhancement program for all sports
- Supplementing athletic scholarships
- Strength coach for all sports
- Track equipment, including a new set of 120 hurdles during 1992
- New vaulting and jumping pits for the track program
- Softball field enhancements, including a new field tarp
- Fencing, dugouts, and batting cage for baseball and softball
- Purchase of portable metal bleachers used for various outdoor sports
- Purchase of goals for soccer and field hockey
- Diving board purchase
- Purchase of basketball shot clocks
- Graduate assistant for sports information
- Purchase of Cybex rehabilitation equipment used by all the teams
- And much more
