Two options for orientation exist for transfer students at Missouri State University. The orientation program in which you are required to participate is dependent upon the amount and type of transfer credit you are bringing to the University.
Transfer Student Orientation
Student transferring fewer than 24 credit hours earned AFTER high school
Students who have completed fewer than 24 transferable credit hours after their graduation from high school will be required to register for and attend the Student Orientation, Advisement and Registration (or SOAR) program before enrolling in classes. At SOAR, students will learn information about the university and campus life, speak with an academic advisor, register for their first semester of classes, and meet faculty, staff, and fellow students.

Students transferring 24 or more credit hours earned AFTER high school
Students who have completed 24 or more transferable credit hours after their graduation from high school will be required to complete the online Transfer Student Orientation before enrolling in classes. Once the online orientation program is completed, the Transfer Orientation (TO) hold on your account will be lifted. At this point, you can schedule an appointment with an academic advisor to discuss class enrollment for your first semester.
Access the transfer orientation by logging into your My Missouri State Portal using your BearPass ID and password, clicking on the Academics tab, scrolling to the Transfer Student Channel and selecting the Transfer Orientation link. Follow the instructions given by the program; it will ask you to verify your completion of the program by entering your BearPass ID and password at the end.
