LOCATION: Glass Hall 427
PHONE NUMBER: 417-836-3007 for an appointment
APPOINTMENTS: Call for an appointment January 1 through December 31, except for school holidays. If no one is in the Clinic please leave a number where you can be reached.
SERVICES: NO CURRENT YEAR TAX RETURNS are prepared in the LITC. See VITA below for current (2008) year tax preparation. Students working in the LITC provide assistance to individual tax payers who have a controversy with the Internal Revenue Service and English as Second Language taxpayers who need assistance understanding their tax rights and responsibilities.
Examples of services provided to clients include assisting with paperwork regarding Levy and Liens, Currently Not Collectible paperwork, Correspondence Audits, Offers in Compromise, Tax return preparation for years prior to 2008, programs and assistance with determination of Resident versus Non Resident Aliens and other tax issues.
Volunteer Individual Tax Assistance (VITA)
LOCATION: Glass Hall 467 and at the EDGE—Springfield Greene County Library Midtown Carnegie Branch (Jefferson and Central) Watch this page for additional sites and times.
SERVICES: Free tax preparation and e-filing of 2008 individual income tax returns including all related state income tax returns. No state return will be prepared unless we also prepare the federal return. Missouri Property Tax Credits (PTC) and any Federal Economic Stimulus returns are also prepared. Need help with a return prior to 2008, see LITC above.

TIMES: Starting February 6, 2009, 10:00 am to 2:00 pm Friday and Saturdays, except for spring break

Social security number and birth date for you, spouse and all dependents
Income Information (W-2’s, 1099-B, 1099-DIV, 1099-G, 1099-INT, 1099-MISC, 1099-R, RRB-1099, SSA-1099, 1042-S, other)
Bank Information (Routing number and Bank Account number)
Amount received for 2007 Economic Stimulus
Other Information you might need (1098-T, Childcare providers social security number or employer TIN, educator expenses, detail listing of charitable contribution items, etc)
Prior year tax return if possible
