Welcome to the School of Accountancy at Missouri State University. I am very happy to have the opportunity to talk to you about the School of Accountancy and the accounting profession.

Our Accounting program at Missouri State prepares you well to compete in an exciting and well paid profession. The SOA offers both Bachelor of Science in Accounting and Master of Accountancy programs. Both programs are accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB). The Curriculum is designed to provide the best possible education for accounting students. The SOA also supervises internship and cooperative education programs, allowing students to gain on-the-job experience.

The Accounting Club, an organization of students interested in accounting careers, is one of the largest and most active of the many departmental student organizations on campus. There is a also a student chapter of the Institute of Management Accountants affiliated with the Accounting Club. The student chapter was recently awarded "Gold Chapter" status by the Institute of Management Accountants. The School of Accountancy sponsors a chapter of the national financial information professionals honor fraternity Beta Alpha Psi. Thirteen of our Beta Alpha Psi students recently attended the national Beta Alpha Psi meeting in Chicago and a team of these students won first place in one of the "Best Practices" competitions. These oustanding student organizations sponsor activities such as Career Day, Meet Our Majors, picnics, trips to businesses, and guest speakers from off-campus. These events all help bring students together with prospective employers.
