Welcome! Dr. J. E. Llewellyn is a professor in the Department of Religious Studies at Missouri State University. He has taught a wide range of undergraduate and graduate courses, most concentrating on world religions. Dr. Llewellyn is a specialist in modern and contemporary Hinduism. He has written two books, The Arya Samaj as a Fundamentalist Movement: A Study in Comparative Fundamentalism (Manohar, 1993) and The Legacy of Women's Uplift in India: Contemporary Women Leaders in the Arya Samaj (Sage, 1998). He has also edited a volume of essays, Defining Hinduism: A Reader (Routledge, 2005).
When he is not teaching or doing research, Dr. Llewellyn spends most of his time with his wife and their two daughters. The family spent the 1994-1995 academic year experiencing the trials and triumphs of living in India, where this photo was taken.
