Welcome! Dr. J. E. Llewellyn is a professor in the Department of Religious Studies at Missouri State University. He has taught a wide range of undergraduate and graduate courses, most concentrating on world religions. Dr. Llewellyn is a specialist in modern and contemporary Hinduism. He has written two books, The Arya Samaj as a Fundamentalist Movement: A Study in Comparative Fundamentalism (Manohar, 1993) and The Legacy of Women's Uplift in India: Contemporary Women Leaders in the Arya Samaj (Sage, 1998).  He has also edited a volume of essays, Defining Hinduism: A Reader (Routledge, 2005).

Jack with this daughtersWhen he is not teaching or doing research, Dr. Llewellyn spends most of his time with his wife and their two daughters. The family spent the 1994-1995 academic year experiencing the trials and triumphs of living in India, where this photo was taken.
