My academic specialization is in the area of the German Reformation. My first book focused on spiritual care to sick and dying persons in the early years of the Reformation: Reforming the Art of Dying: The ars moriendi in the German Reformation (1519-1528) (Aldershot, Great Britain: Ashgate, 2007). Currently I am working on various genres of German Lutheran preaching in the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries: Funeral sermons, catechism sermons and sermons on Martin Luther’s Household Table of Duties.
Fulbright Senior Scholar Award to conduct research on Lutheran sermons at the Institute of European History in Mainz, Germany, March 1, 2011 to May 31, 2011.
