Using our new system, you may register for fall 2009 either on the web or in person. Web registration will generally be available 24 hours a day Monday through Friday and selected weekend hours.

The following are things you should know to prepare for a successful web registration:

  • A user ID and password is required. For information on obtaining a user ID and password, contact Computer Services.
  • Review the course prerequisites which are available on the web class schedule. Prerequisites are checked at the time of registration and students will not be allowed to register for classes for which they do not meet the prerequisites. Students should contact the department to request a prerequisite be waived, if an exception is warranted.
  • Create a . Please make note of the CRN (course reference number) for each of your classes as you will use these in the web registration system.
  • Request any required course permissions. Unless otherwise stated, permission is to be granted by the department head. Students may request permission by contacting the departmental office. The permission must be granted by the department before you can enroll in the class.
  • Freshmen, sophomores, degree-seeking graduate students, first-time transfer students, or students who are on academic probation, must have an advisor release. In order for you to use web registration, the advisor release must be submitted electronically by your advisor.
  • Verify that all holds on your record have been cleared by going to the web My Missouri State system.
  • If you will be in overload status (exceeding the credit hour limit), you should use web registration to enroll up to the maximum load, obtain the requried Overload Permission, and then add the additional hours.
  • Determine your earliest registration date/time by going to My Missouri State.
  • Access the web registration site through the "Add or Drop Classes" option in the My Missouri State system. You will be required to electronically sign an Enrollment Agreement each semester.
  • You may register and/or change your schedules beginning the first day of early registration through the end of the Change of Schedule period. After the Change of Schedule period, web registration is available for dropping full and first block classes and adding second block classes.

How to register

After navigating to the registration system and choosing a semester, the first registration page you will see is titled “Add or Drop Classes.” This is essentially the main menu of registration.

During an initial registration, this page will contain information text at the top and an “Add Classes Worksheet” section at the bottom.

Add or drop classes

If you have accessed the class schedule ahead of time and noted the CRN (course reference number) of the classes you plan to take, then you can add them to the worksheet and register by selecting the “Submit Changes” button.

The system allows you to register for multiple classes at once or one class at a time. We strongly encourage you to register for one class at a time, as the worksheet will not hold the class for you until it is submitted. In addition, if you receive a registration block (error) when submitting the class, it will be easier to interpret the block when only submitting one class at a time.

Current Schedule

If you do not know your CRN, then you can search for it by selecting the Class Search button.

Searching for classes

The “Look Up Classes” page allows you to search for classes based on a variety of filters. You can be as specific as you would like. You must enter at least one subject. You may select multiple subjects by holding the control key on a PC or the option key on a Mac and clicking the subjects you wish to search. You may select all subjects, by selecting the first subject, scrolling to the bottom of the subject list, pressing shift, and selecting the last subject. When finished selecting criteria, select the “Class Search” button.

Look up classes

If you enter applicable criteria, then the next page will give a listing of all sections found. You will see information associated with the section, including the day, time, capacity, instructor, etc. Please note that this display does not list the course delivery type (cable, interactive CD, video rental, etc.) and location (Springfield, West Plains, Neosho, China, etc.). Select the section’s CRN hyperlink to view this information.

Course reference number

After viewing details about the section, select the “Return to Previous” link or the back button of your browser to return to the list of sections resulting from your class search. At this point you may either directly register for a class/classes, or add a class/classes to your worksheet. We strongly encourage you to directly register for the class by selecting the “Register” button.

If you registered for the class successfully, you will see a new section on the “Add or Drop Classes” page called “Current Schedule.” This lists classes you have added (and dropped with a W grade). If the class is not listed in this section, then are not registered for it.

Registration blocks (errors)

The registration system checks for conditions, such as time conflicts, prerequisites, lab and lecture combinations, and program restrictions that may block you from registering for a class.

Registration error

View the full list of registration errors, including descriptions.

In addition, sometimes previous registration errors are not cleared in the system as expected and therefore conflict with further attempts to register for classes. If you experience this, the best way to eliminate the problem is to navigate back to the “Student” tab, “Registration” link, and “Add or Drop” classes link.

Finished with registration and confirmation

After you have successfully registered for all of your classes, you are finished. You are free to print this page but it is not required. You do not need to navigate to any type of confirmation page. You may simply logout and/or close your browser window.

Payment of fees

If you decide to not attend, you must officially withdraw (drop all your classes) before or during the first week of classes. If you withdraw after that time, you will owe your tuition and fees, even if you do not attend classes.
