Approved by the Board of Governors March 9, 2007 and effective August 1, 2007.
The application fee is only charged to those seeking admission as a degree-seeking student. Students are only charged for the initial application for undergraduate or graduate studies. The application fee will not apply toward the required student fees.
Students applying as undergraduate non-degree seeking or postbaccalaureate students are not assessed the application fee. Such students will be assessed the application fee should they apply for admission as a degree-seeking student at a later date.
Undergraduate Application Fee: A $35.00 non-refundable admission application fee is required of all first-time undergraduate degree-seeking applicants. In hardship cases, the Office of Admissions is authorized to waive the admission application fee for first-time freshman applicants. Waivers may be granted to students whose counselors document that they are eligible for the free or reduced lunch program in their school systems. Waivers may also be granted to students whose counselors submit a signed National Association of College Admission Counselors fee waiver form on their behalf and to students who document that they have qualified for a waiver of the ACT registration fee.
Graduate Application Fee: A $35.00 non-refundable admission application fee is required of all first-time graduate degree-seeking applicants.
SOAR (Student Orientation and Registration) Fee: A $60 fee will be required for the two-day program and a $30 fee will be required for the one-day program.
International Students: A $50.00 non-refundable admission application will be required of all first-time international applicants.
Career Center Fees
A registration fee of $20 will be charged to currently enrolled Missouri State students and Missouri State alumni. A $50 registration fee will be charged to non-Missouri State students and non-Missouri State alumni. A $5 per set fee will be charged for credentials processing to currently enrolled Missouri State students and Missouri State alumni. A $30 per visit fee will be charged to non-Missouri State students and non-Missouri State alumni for career, job search, and résumé assistance.
Diploma/University Certificate Fee
A $20 fee is charged for the reissuance of a diploma or University certificate.
Housing Deposit
A security deposit is required of all new applicants for University housing: Traditional residence hall deposit - $100, Graduate and non-traditional apartment deposit - $100, Married and family apartment deposit - $200.
International Students Health Insurance Fee
This fee will be charged each semester at the time of registration to all students for whom Missouri State University has issued student visa documents. Students registered for the spring semester will be covered for the following summer session. Fees for 2007-2008 are as follows: Fall 2007 - $466; Spring/Summer 2008 - $466; Summer 2008 only (for students who did not attend Spring 2008) - $187; Annual - $932.
Late Admission Application Fee
A $25 non-refundable fee will be charged to individuals making application for admission after the published deadline. This fee, which is in addition to the regular application fee, is assessed at the time of application and is non-refundable. The late application fee is waived for students applying for readmission, or for admission under the non-degree undergraduate or postbaccalaureate classification.
The late admission fee is waived for students registering for only short courses, workshops, seminars, and other special courses administered through the Office of Continuing Education and the Extended University which do not begin until after the regular (fall, spring, or summer) semester has begun.
Late Registration Fee
A $25 non-refundable fee will be charged to students who complete their initial registration for classes after the published deadline during the fall and spring semesters. This fee is assessed at the time of registration. Student who apply late and register late are assessed both fees.
The late registration fee is waived for students registering for only short courses, workshops, seminars, and other special courses administered through the Office of Continuing Education and the Extended University which do not begin until after the regular (fall, spring, or summer) semester has begun.
Lost Identification Card (ZipCard) Fee
A $10 fee will be charged for the replacement of a lost student identification card (ZipCard). For inactive ZipCard accounts, a service charge of $1.00 per month will be assessed up to a maximum charge of $36.
Music Fee
The fee for private music lessons taken by Missouri State University students above and beyond their degree requirements is $60 per semester for one half-hour lesson per week. The fee for a one-hour session per week is $105 per semester. For less than a full semester, the fee is $5 per half-hour lesson. The fee for individual private lessons for non-Missouri State University students is $10 per half-hour lesson. The musical instrument rental fee is $20 per instrument per semester. The rental fee is to cover normal maintenance of the instrument. In addition, the student will pay the cost of any extraordinary repairs to the instrument. The fee for Summer Band camp is $65.
Office of the Registrar Document Fee
A $20 delivery fee will be charged for transcripts, enrollment verifications, and other documents sent via express or overnight mail. An additional amount may be required when sending items outside of the country.
Registration (Early) Payment
Students who are eligible for the Deferred Payment Plan (DPP) are required to make a $60 non-refundable minimum payment by a deadline announced at the time of registration in order to hold their registrations. Students not eligible for the DPP are required to pay fees in full by the deadline provided at the time of registration. This $60 will be applied only toward payment of the Required Student Fees for the semester of registration. Once paid, the $60 will be refunded only if the student is suspended by the University.
Returned Check Charge Fee
A fee of $20 will be charged to the person presenting to the University a check that is not honored by the bank on which the check is drawn. The charge will be for each check returned. If the returned check was used to pay the required student fees, the student will also be assessed the late application/registration fee as applicable. This late fee is in addition to the returned check charge.
Study Away Processing Fee
A $75 fee must be paid by students who participate in the Study Away Programs. The fee includes purchase of the International Student ID card.
Supervised Teaching Fee
A fee of $50 will be charged per 8-week placement.
Supervised Teaching (outside of service area) Fee
A fee of $200 will be per 8-week placement outside of service area.
Supervised Teaching Credit Evaluation Fee
A fee of $45 per credit hour awarded will be charged to students for evaluation of, and awarding of, supervised teaching credit.
Teacher Certification Transcript Analysis Fee
Postbaccalaureate students seeking Missouri state teacher certification will be assessed a $40 transcript analysis fee.
Transcript Request Fee
There is no charge for reasonable and routine transcript requests. See “Transcript Request” in the Academic Regulations section of catalog for more information on requesting transcripts.
