September 5 - Preparing the Sabbatical Application, Panel of successful faculty and Dr. Einhellig (two sessions) Faculty only, 11:30 to 1:00 p.m., PSU 313

 

September 17Diversity Initiatives for Professional Education: Data Collection for NCATE and beyond, Session 1. Faculty and Department Heads, 12:45-2:45 p.m., Hill 208, (two sessions)

 

The Professional Education Committee (PEC), in collaboration with the Provost Committee on Diversity Out-Reach are providing two sessions to prepare Department Heads and faculty who lead education programs for the data collection requirements of the NCATE accreditation process. Participants will work at computer stations and will be shown the forms for documenting diversity efforts in the areas of recruiting diverse faculty and students, curriculum, and field experiences. This is a critical first step in preparing for the

NCATE visit in 2010 which will be a comprehensive review of three years of data. The session will be lead by members of the PEC Diversity committee, which includes community leaders such as Dr. Nate Quinn, Diversity Coordinator for the Springfield R-12 Schools.

 

The first session will be held on Monday, September 17th in Hill Hall 208 from 12:45 to

2:45. The second session will be held on Tuesday, September 25 in Strong 408 These are identical sessions and Department heads and faculty should only sign up for one session.

November 1 – Meeting Milestones Leading to Tenure and Promotion. 2:00-3:30 p.m., PSU 308

This session will provide participants with the insights of key administrators on the tenure and promotion process in a number of academic disciplines. The sessions are intended for any and all faculty interested in how the process works at Missouri State and learn of ways in which to balance workloads in a way which will facilitate the meeting of milestones leading to tenure and promotion.

November 7CANCELLED -The Tenacity of Scholarship: Resubmitting Grants and Manuscripts for Publication.

3:00- 4:30, Location TBA.

 

This session focuses on the process of sustaining a program of research or grant writing overtime. The session will provide examples of funded projects and scholarship which went through a revision and re-submit process. The dialogue will focus on how to incorporate feedback from peer reviews and how to strengthen a grant application or article after the initial submission does not meeting criteria for approval or acceptance for publication.
