New Faculty Orientation

Welcome to Missouri State University

Dear New Faculty Member:

On behalf of the Provost’s Office, we have the pleasure of welcoming you to Missouri State University. We have some very accomplished faculty here and are glad you have chosen to become part of that group. Staff and administrators in the Office of the Provost, the Faculty Center for Teaching and Learning, and the Office of Research Administration are committed to helping you make the transition to Missouri State and working with you over the years to achieve your goals. Also, we have collegial faculty at Missouri State and encourage you to take advantage of the expertise and experience of your colleagues in your department, college, and across the university as you settle in.

The week before Fall 2023 classes begin, the Office of Human Resources and the Office of the Provost will host a New Faculty Orientation on Monday, August 14, an important event for all new faculty. New Faculty Orientation begins with a two-hour program with staff from the Office of Human Resources. This program covers benefits and retirement information. An afternoon program with the Office of the Provost will acquaint faculty with the University’s mission and to assist in their preparation for success in teaching, research, and service. A reception at the President's house is scheduled for 5:30 Monday evening.

Finally, in preparation for orientation and your employment, we direct you to the Getting Started-Essential Preliminaries web page. There you will find a checklist that will guide you through the necessary steps to assist you in your orientation to Missouri State University as a new faculty member. For more information, contact Mary Lynne Golden in the Office of the Provost at 417-836-5119.

We look forward to meeting with you at New Faculty Orientation and coming to know you better over the years.
