Supporting Faculty Excellence

Our faculty members are our most important resource. We must do everything possible to support their instruction, research and service in a manner that enhances and enriches their capabilities and contributions. Missouri State University supports effective teaching, research and service through a variety of resources including those within the colleges and/or departments. These resources are designed to give opportunities for continued professional development for faculty. Faculty improvement of these activities rests largely with the individual, however, the institution can and does provide an environment where this improvement is valued. Building a sense of community (learning communities) among faculty, where communication about professional activities is easy and open, helps individuals explore with others new ways of being more effective teachers and scholars. The university also recognizes the need to pursue initiatives that are likely to make the professional endeavors of faculty more exciting, rewarding, and effective.
