- During the mid-year retreat, the Board of Governors decides to proceed with the search for the 11th president of Missouri State University.

- The campus community (email) and general public (news release) are informed of the Board’s decision to begin the search.
- March 30
- The 20-member Presidential Search Committee is named by Board of Governors Chair Gordon Elliott and approved by the Board at its regular meeting.
- April 30
- During a special conference call meeting, the Board of Governors reviews the job description for the president and also approves the 25-Year Assumptions/Presidential Competencies document, both of which will guide the search.
- May 11
- The Presidential Search Committee meets for the first time to organize the search.
- May 17
- Publicity and advertising officially begins.
- July 13
- Date for application materials to be submitted in order for candidates to receive optimal consideration.
- July 13-Aug.24
- Committee reviews application materials, screens candidates and selects semifinalists.
- Sept. 8-9
- Committee conducts interviews with semifinalists.
- Soon after Sept. 19
- Committee recommends 2-4 of the semifinalists for on-campus interviews.
- Oct. 3-17
- Anticipated on-campus interviews.

- Board of Governors names new president, with starting date negotiable.
