Missouri State University will soon begin the planning stages of Public Affairs Week 2010, and we want you to get involved!
Students will recognize the importance of contributing their knowledge and experiences to their own community and the broader society. Students should learn to appreciate, participate in, and impact the community and world around them. Our graduates should have a thirst and hunger for meaningful involvement and the skills to make a difference.
Public Affairs Week is an annual campus- and community-wide event, aimed at promoting our University’s public affairs mission. To do so, a student-run planning committee, consisting of a Community Engagement, Diversity, Citizenship, Public Relations, and Overall Chair, work to coordinate this week-long event. For Fall 2009, the theme will be “Evolving Economic Realties”. As Community Engagement Chair, I am looking to form a sub-committee of various student organizations and individuals looking to further promote community activism in our students. Thus, I will be coordinating an event called Bear Build 2009, will be co-sponsoring an event called Market Blast, will be assisting the coordination of another Volunteer Fair, and am looking for eager students and organizations to get involved!
Thank you,
Rachel Smith
