Constitution Day

“The Constitution is not an instrument for the government to restrain the people; it is an instrument for the people to restrain the government.” – Patrick Henry

Constitution Day is celebrated each year during Public Affairs Week on September 17. The holiday commemorates the formation and signing of the U.S. Constitution by 39 of our nation’s Founding Fathers on September 17, 1787. All Americans are encouraged to observe this important day in our nation’s history by participating in activities and events, like those hosted as part of Public Affairs Week.
