State, Regional, and Federal Compliance

Missouri State University

  • Performance Indicators (State Compliance) -
    • On the 20th day of each term, the Office of Institutional Research is provided a comprehensive set of data elements collected and stored within the campus Management Information Systems. These data are analyzed by the OIR staff in accordance with state and federal protocols and procedures to calculate, validate, and reconcile detailed data responses to comprehensive surveys that enable the President, Provost, and Missouri Department of Higher Education to evaluate and compare Missouri State University to institutions located in Missouri as well as over 7,000 institutions of higher learning located within other regions in the United States.
    • Currently, four measures are common to all institutions within a specific sector, while one measure is selected by each institution to reflect its mission and scope. Each higher educational institution earns one-fifth of its available performance funding by meeting each of its measures.

The Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System (IPEDS), consists of extensive data collected, analyzed, and reported by the National Center for Educational Statistics (NCES) since 1986. These data are widely used in the evaluation and comparisons of institutions of higher education based on student enrollment, graduation rates, student charges, program completions, faculty and staff levels and assignments, and financial performance for approximately 7,500 institutions across the United States. For more comprehensive information, the IPEDS Data Center can be accessed at
