Careers and Outcomes

Advance your career opportunities

By advancing your education and completing the BSN-C program, you will be considered for more advanced nursing careers. A small but growing number of U.S. hospitals are now only hiring nurses that have a BSN or higher, and indicators are that many more hospitals will join them in years to come. Prepare today for management and leadership roles in health care or open the door to graduate education.

It has been shown that acute care settings with a higher percentage of BSNs have lower mortality and better outcomes. By advancing your education, you can improve patient care and community health.

Be prepared to take on a wider variety of roles, such as teaching, consulting and administration. View the nursing specialties page for more information on nursing career options.

By completing your BSN, you will be highly sought after by employers who value Missouri State’s exceptional combination of acute, community and classroom knowledge you receive in this program. You will become better equipped to advance your nursing career and you will have an opportunity to network and make connections with future employers.

Take the next step in your education

The nursing school at Missouri State offers a variety of graduate programs to registered nurses with a BSN. The Master of Science in Nursing program is entirely online and the Doctorate of Nursing Practice may be completed in three years of full-time study. The Post-Master's DNP may be completed in three semesters.
