Philosophy

It is the philosophy of Sigma House that chemical dependency is a primary, progressive and chronic disease and with intervention and the appropriate treatment settings individuals and their families can recover and become productive members of their community.

 
Services Provided 
  • Assessment: detailed psych-social history of each potential client is completed in a face-to-face interview. Information regarding how the client’s major life areas have been affected by usage is taken to ensure the proper form of treatment may be recommended.
  • Social Setting Detoxification: Detoxification services are provided 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The purpose of this service is to provide a supportive, safe environment during an uncomfortable process. In the event any client exceeds our criteria for safety, they will be transferred immediately to a hospital for stabilization. Maximum length of stay for detox is 5 days.
  • Residential Treatment: This program provides a safe, supportive environment for individuals who require this intensive environment. Treatment is composed of medical lectures, group therapy, educational lectures, relapse prevention/recognition, individual therapy, family groups and 12-Step support programs. A total of 50 hours of therapeutic activity are available each week. The client, their referral source and the treatment team develop the treatment plan. The length of stay in residential treatment varies depending on the clients needs. Maximum length of service is 28 days.
  • Intensive Outpatient: This service provides individual structure and intensity to meet multiple service needs. Programs vary dependent upon the need of the client, but may include Day Treatment 7 days per week (maximum), Evening Treatment, and specialized Sigma House focus programs. Sigma House encourages family participation, whenever possible, in the treatment process, thus insuring recovery for all. Family educational sessions, activities and counseling are available.
  • Basic Education and Continuing Care: The continuing care program is designed to support clients after treatment who are no longer experiencing problem with chemical abstinence but are experiencing difficulties with relationships, emotions, dependency and self-worth issues. Clients attend on a weekly basis as needed. Basic Education is a dedicated lecture series that lasts for 5 months. This program is designed for clients with an abuse diagnosis to ensure they have the knowledge to prevent dependency. Also, this program is appropriate for clients who need extended evaluation to determine appropriateness for treatment.
  • Drug Court: These services are provided in Greene, Christian and Taney counties. This program is designed as a deferred sentencing program for drug and alcohol offenders. Clients must successfully complete this program or they will be sentenced for the precipitating crime. This program is a maximum of 18 months of services, which include intensive supervision, multiple random drug screens weekly, individual and group activity.
  • DWI Court: These services are provided in Greene, Christian and Taney counties. It is designed as a deferred sentencing program for DWI offenders. Clients must successfully complete this program or they will be sentenced for the precipitating crime. This program is a maximum of 18 months of services, which include intensive supervision, multiple random alcohol screens weekly, individual and group activities.
  • Federal Programs: This program is specifically designed for individuals who are on Federal Probation or Parole. Contracts for the Federal program include: United States Probation and Parole Residential and Out-Patient Services, United States Pre-Trial Residential and Out-Patient Services, and Federal Bureau of Prisons Out-Patient Services. Included are separate services for Psychiatric and Psychological services. Della Mote provides psychological services. These programs are available at both Springfield and Larry Simmering Sigma House. This program is for a minimum of 2 years. Individuals must successfully complete this program or be returned to Federal Prison. Individuals are closely monitored for compliance.
  • SATOP: The Substance Abuse Traffic Offenders program is provided at the Larry Simmering facility only. It consists of an Offenders Management Unit, which provides assessment and recommendations, Offenders Educational Program, which provides a 10-hour educational program. This program is for individuals who have lost their license due to DWI’s.
Population Served

Sigma House serves individuals in need regardless of their social or economic status, race, color, national origin, age, sex, or handicap. Upon arrival a detailed psych-social history of each potential client is completed in a face-to-face interview. Information regarding how the client’s major life areas have been affected by usage is taken to ensure the proper form of treatment may be recommended. Sigma House is committed to providing quality care for anyone needing services regardless of their ability to pay.
