Mission

The Salvation Army, an international movement, is an evangelical part of the universal Christian church. Its message is based on the Bible. Its ministry is motivated by the love of God. Its mission is to preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ and to meet human needs in His name without discrimination.

 
Services Provided

The local Salvation Army provides basic human needs to the poverty level population as well as those in need regardless of race, color, age, or sex. They offer Emergency Social Services, Travelers Aid, Front Line Feeding, and vouchers to their thrift stores. The Family Enrichment Shelter, Men’s Harbor House Shelter and the New Start Housing Program focuses on the rehabilitation of families and individuals. Day Labor placement is offered. The youth programs help develop a wide range of interests and skills, instill self-worth and develop effective leadership skills. Programs for youth include Sunbeams, Girl Guards, Adventure Corps, After-School Clothing and Shows and School Supplies. Friendship and fellowship for area seniors are offered through our senior activities and visits to nursing homes and hospitals. Holiday assistance provides low income families with food baskets/vouchers, toys and clothing. The goal is to meet the needs of the community at the point of need.
