Mission

“OACAC enriches the lives of families and individuals within our community by providing opportunities, offering assistance and empowering people to make a positive change.”

 
Purpose

OACAC is a non-profit agency that works toward alleviating the causes and conditions of poverty in the Ozarks. OACAC sponsors Head Start programs, Neighborhood Centers in all ten counties, Foster Grandparents programs, Family Planning, Home Weatherization, Housing Assistance, and Low Income Energy Assistance Program, all at little or no cost to those who need assistance.

 
Services Provided

Routine gynecological exams (pap smear, pelvic exam, breast exam, weight, blood pressure, and hematocrit measurements); screening and treatment of vaginal infections and STDs; pregnancy testing, counseling and referral; training on breast self exams; education and counseling on birth control options; prescription and non-prescription birth control supplies.

 
Cost

The cost, or lack of cost, is based on the families’ income.

 
About

OACAC has sponsored many other programs which have been turned over to other agencies through the years. OACAC accepts donations, and you may visit their website to find out more. They have also established a charitable endowment fund through the Community Foundation of the Ozarks. This helps to support the mission to eliminate the causes and conditions of poverty in Southwest Missouri.


Population Served

OACAC serves the ten county areas of Barry, Christian, Dade, Dallas, Greene, Lawrence, Polk, Stone, Taney, and Webster counties.
