Mission

Our mission is to a total commitment to improving the lives of people affected by mental illness, both persons with these brain disorders and their families.

This includes providing needed programs, information, services, support and referrals. Also, using education, community outreach and advocacy to:

  • Eradicate stigma and discrimination
  • Promote equal rights and greater research funding
  • Increase knowledge and understanding of mental illness
  • Improve access to quality care, services, treatment and opportunities
 
Population Served

NAMI is a free service available to anyone in the Southwest Missouri area. They offer support, education, recovery groups for: Bipolar Disorder, Borderline Personality Disorder, Dual Diagnosis, Eating Disorders, Family to Family (for family members of those with mental illness), Women-only support group, NAMI Cares (for anyone with any type of mental illness), Panic, Anxiety & Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, Schizophrenia/Schizoaffective Disorder, Spiritual Growth and Young Adults.

Family to Family – 12 week education class for family members

In Our Own Voice – Speakers education program

Peer to Peer – 9 week education class for consumers

Visions for Tomorrow – 11 week education class for parents of children and adolescents
