Purpose

Lakeland is a 60 bed inpatient psychiatric facility for children and adolescents. It offers acute crisis management for children who are having behavioral problems, are out of control, expressing a desire to harm themselves or others, or showing signs of depression. It also offers long-term residential treatment for adolescents.

 Services Provided

Children are involved in a regular daily schedule that includes schooling and a variety of groups, including:

  • Individual psychotherapy
  • Family therapy
  • Group psychotherapy/coping skills
  • Anger management group
  • Recreational therapy life skills
  • Recreational therapy creative expression
  • Community group
  • One-to-one with nursing
  • Family issues group psychotherapy
  • Relaxation group
  • Process group
  • Physical/sexual abuse group
  • Alcohol/substance abuse group.
 
Cost

Intake offers a no cost, no obligation, confidential assessment 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Intake is contacted by calling 1.800.432.1210, ext. 401. Most private insurance and Medicaid from Missouri and surrounding states is accepted. Initial assessment is free. Cost depends on individual insurance.

About

Lakeland is located in downtown Springfield. It is an old hospital building built in 1904 and was not used primarily for psychiatric services until 1989.
