Purpose
The Family Violence Center is devoted to helping women and children stop the cycle of violence in their lives. It provides shelter to women and children fleeing domestic violence and supplies a safe place to stay.
Mission
The Family Violence Center provides shelter, advocacy and education to all victims of domestic violence and promotes the principle that all individuals have the right to a life free of abuse.
Goals:
- To provide short-term emergency protective shelter for victims of family violence.
- To help victims of family violence break the cycle of abuse through programs of education, support, referral, and advocacy.
- To disseminate information to the community which promotes understanding about the factors involved in domestic violence, its prevalence, causes, patterns, and prevention.
- To advocate for changes which will provide the opportunity for a lifestyle free of violence for all people.
About
Harmony House, Shelter & Service for Victims of Domestic Violence, is a 70 bed shelter for women and their children escaping family violence. The Family Violence Center also provides 7 transitional apartments, support and education groups, a thrift shop, children's program and community education.
Population Served
Women and their children affected by family violence in a 17 county area. This agency serves all victims of domestic violence. It also serves the community to educate about domestic violence.
