About

The American Red Cross was organized by Clara Barton in Washington, D.C. This organization was inspired by The International Red Cross founded by Henry Dunant who focused on providing unprejudiced care to the wounded and sick in times of war in 1863. This is a humanitarian organization that works to provide relief of victims of disaster and help people prevent, prepare for, and respond to emergencies. The American Red Cross has a disaster relief team open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. This organization is led by volunteers and guided by its congressional charter and the fundamental principles of the American Red Cross movement. Many health and safety services are offered. These services are made accessible to all. Become a volunteer, so that in times of an emergency you will be able to help.
