Woodwind audition

Students wishing to audition for acceptance as a music major in the woodwind area should prepare to:

  • perform two stylistically contrasting selections of literature or etudes (for example, a state solo contest piece or an all-state audition excerpt) that demonstrate technique and expression
  • play any major scale up to four sharps or four flats, two octaves when possible
  • play a chromatic scale
  • sight read

Note

All incoming undergraduate students wanting to audition for a music major must also take the theory entrance exam.
