Christopher Kelts, Music Director/Conductor,
String Fling Orchestra

A native of St. Louis, Christopher Kelts is a Doctoral candidate at the Conservatory of Music and Dance at UMKC.  Chris holds degrees in orchestral conducting studying with such teachers as Robert Olson, Glenn Block, and Paul Vermel. Prior to his conducting training, Chris was trained on the viola by such teachers as Karen Tuttle, Kate Hamilton, and Amy Muchnick.  Formerly assistant conductor of the Kansas City Ballet, Chris serves as assistant conductor for the Conservatory Orchestra and is music director and conductor for UMKC’s opera productions. He currently serves as music director and conductor for the East Jackson County Youth Orchestra and on the executive team for Stringendo Institute of Music in Kansas City.

Kirsten Weingartner Weiss, Violin/Viola

Violinist and violist Kirsten Weingartner Weiss has been studying music since the age of four. She received her undergraduate degree in violin performance from Illinois Wesleyan University and went on to do her graduate work in viola performance at DePaul University

Kirsten has performed as a member of many orchestras including the Walt Disney World All-American College Orchestra,  the Civic Orchestra of Chicago, the Illinois Symphony and Chamber Orchestra, the Omaha Symphony, the Cedar Rapids Symphony, the Chamber Orchestra of the Ozarks, the Ft. Smith Symphony and the Springfield Symphony.  In 1993, she moved to Branson, MO and spent 11 seasons as the violinist, violist and violin soloist with the Lawrence Welk Show.

Currently, Kirsten is an active solo, orchestral and chamber musician and is also the violin instructor at College of the Ozarks.
