Daniel Hellman, Assistant Professor of Music-Music Education, joined the Missouri State University music faculty in the Fall of 2006 where his teaching responsibilities include undergraduate and graduate courses in music education, supervising student teachers, advising music education majors and guiding graduate students’ theses.
Dr. Hellman’s research interests include teacher modeling, music teacher attrition, music teacher preparation and music performance assessment. He is published in the Journal of Research in Music Education and the Southeastern Journal of Music Education and has presented his research at national and regional conferences.
A native of Louisiana, he holds the Bachelor of Music Education degree from Northwestern State University of Louisiana at Natchitoches and both the Master of Music Education and the Ph.D. in Music Education from the University of Southern Mississippi at Hattiesburg.
Prior to joining the faculty at Missouri State, Dr. Hellman held academic positions at Anna Maria College, Northwestern Oklahoma State University and in the public schools of Louisiana.
