Do you need to find out who your advisor is?
Log in to the My.MissouriState.edu website. Choose the Academics Tab at the top of the page. The middle of this page there is a box that is called Academic Profile. Here you can find out who your advisor is, as well as send them an email. Also, from the Student Info Resources box on the left side of the page click on the link to Student Records. Then select Student Information and you will see what your student id (M#) is, what your major/minor is, what your degree is and you can also review your advising notes and releases.
Do you need to be assigned an advisor?
Please contact the Academic Advisement Center or the Department of Music office (Ellis Hall, RM 206, 417-836-5648 or music@missouristate.edu ). The department staff can assist you with the assignment of an advisor.
Are you a new transfer student?
Please contact the Music Department office (417-836-5648), where you will be advised of the steps you must take to become a pre-major (includes an audition and theory placement exam).
If you are a transfer student, you will ALSO want to view the Transfer Student web page at: www.missouristate.edu/admissions/transfer.asp
Need help with re-evaluating how your Music classes transferred?
You may contact the Music Department (417-836-5648) to schedule an appointment with the Department Head to do a transfer equivalency for music classes if you have concerns about how certain classes were evaluated when you enrolled at Missouri State University.
Please bring a copy of the class syllabi with you to your appointment if you have one, and at least a catalog description for the course.
Are you an evening student?
If you need to meet with your advisor after 5:00 p.m., please send an email to your faculty advisor to set up an appointment. You can find the email addresses of your advisor on our website at: www.missouristate.edu/music/29056.htm. You may also contact the department (417-836-5648) to set up a meeting with the Department Head if you cannot otherwise contact your advisor.
Do you need to make an appointment with your advisor?
Refer to the list of our faculty to contact your advisor directly either by phone or by email.
Do you want to know what classes are required for your degree program?
You may locate sample four year degree plans for each major in the Music Department on our website at: www.missouristate.edu/music/DegreePrograms.htm
They can be downloaded and can be printed out to assist you in deciding what classes to enroll in or talk to your advisor about. However, you should be aware that your general education degree requirements are found in the university catalog. Degree requirements that affect you are reflected in the catalog when you first attend the university. Your major requirements are "locked in" from the catalog in force during the semester that you are admitted to your degree program.
Are you having trouble contacting your advisor?
Please allow time for your advisor to get back to you. Some faculty are not on campus every day. If you have waited a reasonable amount of time and are still having trouble getting hold of your advisor, please contact the Department of Music (Ellis 206) at 417-836-5648.
