Joe Leiter - Guitar

Joseph Leiter received a BM amd MM in Classical Guitar Performance from the Florida State University under the tutelage of Bruce Holzman. Joe's master class studies include Sharon Isbin, Oscar Ghiglia, Christopher Parkening, Robert Gauthrie, Angel Romero, Manuel Barrueco, Elliot Fiske, and Michael Newman. Since 1985 Joe has been Director of Guitar Studies at Missouri Southern State College, Joplin, MO, and Pittsburg State University, Pittsburg, KS. Since 1988 he has been Director of Guitar Studies at Missouri State.

Mr. Leiter teaches the Segovia technique on classical guitar. Studio guitar and jazz improvisation are also taught, combining methods of David Leibman, Frank Gambale, and Jimmy Amate. Mr. Leiter also instructs electric bass. Joe has a classical guitar tape published and writes for jazz and pop ensembles. He was a semi-finalist in the 1983 Quebec International Guitar Competition.
