Pedro Almodovar's dark comedy shines in spite of its occasionally tragic story line. Carmen Maura is Gloria, a matriarch struggling against her mean husband (Luis Hostalot), two wayward sons (one of whom is a drug dealer) and her grandmother, all of whom live with Gloria in one tiny apartment. Summary

Dodging authorities and other dangers, he finds a new friend in Sayra (Paulina Gaitan), a Honduran girl also making a run for the American border. Cary Fukunaga directs this exciting thriller. Summary
