Portuguese Courses

PTG 101 Elementary Portuguese I

Develop proficiency in the four communication skills: listening, reading, speaking, and writing. These skills are essential to effective communication in the target language.

PTG 102 Elementary Portuguese II

Prerequisite: C or better in PTG 101. Develop additional proficiency in the four communication skills: listening, reading, speaking, and writing. These skills are essential to effective communication in the target language.

PTG 201 Intermediate Portuguese I

Prerequisite: C or better in PTG 102. Systematic review, expansion, and synthesis of the four skill areas. This course will enhance communication skills by providing a thorough review of fundamentals of grammar through real-life language use, reading, and composition. Credit by examination is available.

PTG 202 Intermediate Portuguese II

Prerequisite: C or better in PTG 201. Continued development of the four skills areas through conversation, composition, and reading as a means to access culture. Credit by examination is available.

PTG 297 Special Topics in Portuguese

Prerequisite: permission of instructor and department head. Topics of selected interest in Portuguese studies, including travel courses to Portuguese-speaking countries. The specific subject matter and/or international component may change from semester to semester according to resources and demand. May be repeated, as topics change, to a maximum of 6 credit hours. Variable content course.
