Wehr Band Hall
There is a place for everyone to pursue his or her musical growth at Missouri State. The Music Department boasts a total of 18 bands! In addition to the 300-member Pride Marching Band, there are five concert bands, five jazz bands, two basketball bands, and five entertainment ensembles.
Pride Marching Band meets each Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 3:30 p.m. to 5:50 p.m. The Band reports for “Boot Camp” in August one week before classes begin.
Appearances at all home football games, pep rallies, parades and prestigious invitations to MACY’S Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York, the Orange Bowl in Miami, the New Orleans Saints, the Denver Broncos, London, England, and the Tournament of Roses Parade in Pasadena, combine for exciting experiences. The Pride is one of the premiere university marching bands in the country.
The five concert bands include the Wind Ensemble, Wind Symphony, Symphonic Band, Concert Band and University-Community Band. Concert performances highlight an exciting array of literature and enable students to experience music-making at its best.
The Jazz Program is comprised of five ensembles: Jazz Band, Lab Band, Stage Band, Studio Band and Night Jazz. The groups maintain an active performance calendar hosting guest artists and participating in major festivals and conventions.
The University Bands Winter Guards and Winter Drumline are an extension of the Pride Marching Band. These performance groups meet second semester and perform within the ranks of the Winter Guard International and the Mid-Continent Color Guard Association.
All bands are open to both music and non-music majors. If you are interested in being a member of the Pride Marching Band, you may call the Band Office (417-836-5454) to set an appointment for an audition. Auditions are held on select dates, Monday through Friday, throughout the fall and spring semesters.
