MESSAGE ABOUT MISSOURI STATE UNIVERSITY’S
ETHICS AND COMPLIANCE HOTLINE
Missouri State University has a long tradition of operating in a professional and ethical manner. Those values are expressed in the University Community Principles, and reiterated in the fifth goal of the new long-range plan: Modeling Ethical and Effective Behavior.
The University has also continued to provide various mechanisms to assist and encourage employees and students to come forward in good faith with reports or concerns about suspected compliance issues, without fear of reprisal or retaliation. Most recently, the University’s Board of Governors has approved the Whistleblower Policy.
When an employee or student identifies a concern about a suspected compliance issue, he or she is encouraged to make a report to his/her immediate supervisor, or an appropriate University official. Examples of unethical or illegal behavior include (but are not limited to) the following:
1. Shortcomings in regulatory compliance
2. Theft of University Assets for personal benefit
3. Excessive gifts from a vendor
4. Sexual harassment or discrimination against an employee or student
5. Research misconduct
6. Falsification of time sheets or other records
7. Bribes or kickbacks
8. Improper financial reporting
If, however, a student or employee is uncomfortable discussing concerns with a University official, the University has made available a third-party anonymous hotline service, provided by EthicsPoint. An individual may contact this hotline service either by toll-free phone or via the internet, 24 hours a day/7 days a week. All reports are routed directly to the Office of Internal Audit for review and directed to the appropriate institutional official(s).
You may use either of the following two methods to submit a report:
Via Telephone call 1-888-233-8988 (toll free) or
Via Internet at Missouri State Ethics Hotline
