Keeping up the momentum

IDEA Commons includes 88-acres bordered by Chestnut Expressway, Water Street, Campbell Avenue and Washington Avenue in downtown Springfield. With the revitalization of the area, there are numerous opportunities to expand the impact of this community. Additional corporate, retail and residential space can be accommodated to draw individuals and businesses downtown, which fulfills the goals of building a thriving community and adding jobs.

The City of Springfield has created an IDEA Commons Activity Center plan which includes developing green space within IDEA Commons. The plan includes utilization of the Ozarks Greenway trail, additional landscaping and signage for the area. Open areas within IDEA Commons have been identified for future residential and commercial development.

Missouri State University has also acquired several other facilities that will be incorporated into IDEA Commons for future use: 

• Solid States – 600 Block of N. Boonville Ave.
• Binve – Boonville Avenue and Tampa Street
• MFA Silos
• Willow Brook Storage Facility – 521 N. Jefferson
