A native of Springfield, I attended Missouri State University (SMS), then later completed my Bachelor of Science of Information Technology/Web Design, graduating Summa Cum Laude at Kaplan University.
Most recently with The Computer Institute of MSU as Web Design Certificate Program Coordinator, I was responsible for determining curriculum for the program, reviewing and/or authoring the training materials, as well as the primary instructor for scripting/programming languages, graphic design for web use as well as web design applications. I also taught a variety of Microsoft Office applications at the Computer Institute.
Providing instruction and training for over twenty years, I have had the opportunity to instruct a variety of participants in a myriad of topics and locations. I presented at many RCET (Regional Consortium for Education and Technology) workshops, teacher training as well as motivational and self-improvement seminars.
As part of the two-person ORION (Ozarks Regional Information Online Network) team, we provided the second point of access to the Internet in the state of Missouri. Housed in the Springfield-Greene County Library, we provided support for regional educational entities, local government, local businesses as well as individuals as we provided help desk, individual and group instruction on Internet connectivity, email, searching methods and research.
From there, as part of the management team of a regional Internet Service Provider, I was responsible for user training as well as Project Director, where my responsibilities included marketing, web development, management of the graphic and web development, as well as technical support departments. It was in this capacity that I was recruited over ten years ago by MSU’s Director of Continuing and Professional Development to provide training through the University.
Known for wearing various hats of responsibility and expertise, I am a published photographer, author, artist and graphic designer. I am also the owner of a graphic design, consulting and web design company. Creativity as well as teaching others a variety of skills has continued to evolve throughout my life. Helping others grow and succeed in their lives and career is my goal. I strive to determine the learning style of the class participants, to present a casual atmosphere encouraging questions, and help participants find that “ah-haa” moment in class. As an instructor, I feel honored to provide information and/or skills that imparting knowledge enhancing the lives of others.
