GENERAL FUNCTION

The Visiting Associate Professor is a non-tenure track position held by an individual who possesses all the qualifications to be appointed at that rank or who has held that rank at another institution. The Visiting Associate Professor's teaching responsibilities are assigned by the academic department head and may include serving as an academic advisor.

MINIMUM ACCEPTABLE QUALIFICATIONS

The minimum acceptable qualifications for the position of Visiting Associate Professor are prescribed in the Faculty Handbook. The ability to develop knowledge of, respect for, and skills to engage with those of other cultures or backgrounds is required.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The essential duties and responsibilities of the Visiting Associate Professor are assigned by the academic Department Head. The Visiting Associate Professor facilitates a learning environment that encourages knowledge of, respect for, and development of skills to engage with those of other cultures or backgrounds.

SUPERVISION

The Visiting Associate Professor receives administrative supervision from the Department Head and may exercise supervision of graduate assistants, undergraduate majors, or student employees.
