Employee must complete all of Section 1 of the I-9 Employment Eligibility Verification document (Includes instructions on completing the form correctly).
Employee must then choose one document from List A or one document from List B and List C. Missouri State University participates in E-Verify, the List B document must include a photograph. (Please see page 4, List of Acceptable Documents, of I-9 form.) Illustrations of many of these documents appear in Part 8 of the Handbook for Employers (M-274).
Employee must bring the original documents and the I-9 form to an authorized representative (i.e. Personnel Officers or Notary Public) located at a financial institution or university. The authorized representative will act as the University’s authorized representative in examining the documents, witnessing the employee’s signature, as well as completing and signing Section 2 of the I-9 form. If an authorized representative is not available at a financial institution or university, please contact the Office of Human Resources at 417-836-5102 for guidance.
A copy of the documents that establish identity and eligibility to work and the original I-9 form must be returned to the Missouri State University hiring department to ensure the information is submitted to E-verify within three days of beginning employment.
