Group Health Insurance

Missouri State University provides every full-time employee with the option of electing medical and dental insurance. The University pays 100% of the cost of the dental insurance for employee coverage.   Employees electing medical insurance will pay a portion of the premium, i.e. $30 per month for their individual coverage.  This premium can be reduced or waived by the employee’s annual completion of the University’s wellness activities. Employees may elect to purchase family medical and/or family dental insurance; employees pay 100% of the cost for these family coverages.

The University's medical insurance plan is self-insured and is a preferred provider organization (PPO) plan with St. John's Health System as the preferred providers.   Employees may use non-preferred providers; however, the deductibles and out-of-pocket amounts are higher.   The University has a third party administrator (Med-Pay, Inc.) to process claims and make insurance payments to providers.

The University's dental insurance plan is also self-insured and uses the Dental Health Alliance Network. Employees can locate a participating provider by going to www.dha.com or going directly to the Provider Locator
