Melissa Dallas joined Missouri State University in August 2008, coming from Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton, Florida, where she served as Director of the Hospitality and Tourism Management Program in the College of Business.

 

Dr. Dallas holds a Juris Doctorate from the University of Toledo, a Master of Business Administration from Bowling Green University, and a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Bowling Green University.

 

Melissa is a highly sought after expert in food service and lodging operations in the U.S. and internationally. Dallas has an extensive publication record with prominent publications in books, refereed journal articles, trade articles, and international publications.

 

A leader in the educational and business arenas, she has held leadership positions in the International Council on Hotel, Restaurant, and Institutional Education (Past President), state hospitality associations, and educational and business boards.

 

Dr. Dallas has received numerous awards and honors including Distinguished Teacher of the Year from the College of Business at Florida Atlantic University.

 

Melissa  is very active in civic and community activities, serving on numerous boards and committees.

Carl Riegel

Dr. Carl D. Riegel is the former Chair of and a Professor in the Department of Industry Studies in the College of Business Administration at Florida Atlantic University.

 

An authority on management development and executive education in the hospitality industry, Riegel has developed a variety of executive education programs in the United States, Canada, Latin America, and Asia. Carl also has extensive hospitality and tourism industry experience including positions as a hotel general manager, purchasing manager, retail operations manager for an airport concessionaire, consultant and more recently as director of operations for a small limited service hotel chain.

 

Riegel has an extensive publication record and has also conducted extensive research on the international front. Carl has been actively involved in community service over the span of his career and he has held international, national, and regional leadership roles in professional organizations for hospitality and tourism education.
