Katie Tucker joined the Hospitality and Restaurant Administration Department in 2012 as the academic advisor and recruiter for the major. She meets with high school, transfer, and current Missouri State students who are interested in learning more about the Hospitality and Restaurant Administration degree. Also, throughout the year, Katie advises Hospitality and Restaurant Administration students through their academic plan and courses.
Prior to joining the department, Katie has spent her career in the hospitality industry and most recently student support in higher education. Through high school and college, she worked eight years at the Rockin’ K Steak and Rib. Most of her time was spent serving, but she also enjoyed helping out wherever help was needed. After college, Katie fulfilled a wish of hers by becoming an Oscar Mayer Hotdogger. She drove the Oscar Mayer Wienermobile across the country bringing miles of smiles and gaining great experience in public relations. After her journey in the Wienermobile, Katie returned to the hospitality industry at Big Cedar Lodge as their Marketing Coordinator. Besides coordinating marketing for the resort, Katie assisted on many high profile events for Bass Pro Shops such as the 2006 Bass Pro Shops Atlanta 500 NASCAR Special Event and 2007 Tracker Marine Group National Dealer Conference. In 2008, Katie joined Missouri State University as an administrative specialist for the Academic Advisement Center. There she helped students in declaring or changing their academic major and minors. In her current position, Katie is able to combine her love for higher education and the hospitality industry.
In addition to advising and recruiting, Katie enjoys traveling, volunteering, attending theatre productions, the outdoors, and baking.
