Six outstanding HRA majors are selected through a competitive process to serve as Student Ambassadors each academic year. They assist the department with recruiting activities and professional outreach. Congratulations and thank you to these exceptional students!
 
Jeff Driskill Jeff Driskill has worked at Hickory Hills Country Club in restaurants, banquets and events and butler service. He interned with Starwood Properties at the Sheraton Hotel & Convention Center in Overland Park, Kansas. While there, he worked in their Food & Beverage Department where he rotated as a server in the 1906 Restaurant, a VIP concierge in the VIP Lounge on the 19th floor, a barista at the Starbucks in the lobby and a cocktail server/bartender on the outdoor patio. Jeffrey is involved in Hospitality Leaders of Tomorrow, Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity, IFC Bowling League, Greek Week Chair and New Member Education Team for his fraternity. He also volunteers at the Humane Society, Convoy of Hope as well as The Clean-up of The Jordan River project during the warm seasons. Jeff did receive PIKE of the Month.

Lazarus HardinLazarus Hardin came to Missouri State with many years of experience and also an Associates of Applied Science degree from Ozark Technical Community College. He currently cooks for Houlihan’s on sauté, fry and broiler. Lazarus worked for Hemingway’s (shift leader), Captain D’s (assistant manager), Valentine’s (head chef) and 5 Spice China Grill (sous chef). While he was working at Valentine’s, the restaurant did receive the distinction of best overall restaurant by 417 Magazine. He won multiple awards in a food and wine tasting event including appetizer, entrée and dessert. Working twenty years in the industry, he is continuing a family tradition. Many generations of his family have worked in food and beverage. He was awarded a scholarship this spring from the Missouri Restaurant Association and was invited to join Eta Sigma Delta. In addition to his academics and work, Lazarus enjoys spending time with and raising his family.

Samm Hill-ProckSammantha Hill-Prock currently works at Hammons Field as a member of the DNC Sportservice concessions team. She is looking forward to doing her internship in the spring and plans to intern in catering or events. Her career goals are to be employed in a sports or entertainment venue. Sammantha is a member of Eta Sigma Delta and Hospitality Leaders of Tomorrow. Through these two student organizations, she participates in the volunteer opportunities and also a supporter of Isabel’s House, the DAV and Convoy of Hope. This spring, she was awarded an American Hotel and Lodging Educational Foundation Scholarship. While at Missouri State, she has been on the Dean’s List and inducted into Eta Sigma Delta Honors Society, Golden Key Honors Society and National Society of Collegiate Scholars.

Lauren MattsonLauren Mattson recently completed an internship at Walt Disney World in quick service food and beverage. She has also interned at Big Cedar Lodge in Activities. Lauren is active in Eta Sigma Delta International Hospitality Honor Society, Hospitality Leaders of Tomorrow, Sigma Kappa Sorority and Phi Eta Sigma. Honors that Lauren has received include Deans List, Kim Knight Scholarship, HRA Board of Advisors Scholarship and Justice Jeweler's Food and Wine Scholarship.

Ali StonecipherAli  Stonecipher interned over the summer at Big Cedar Lodge with Activities planning and executing different activities for the resort’s guests. She currently works for Missouri State University as a University Ambassador giving campus tours to prospective students and in the Academic Advisement Center at the front desk assisting students, faculty and others.  Ali is also involved in Alpha Chi Omega, University Ambassadors, Relay for Life, Hospitality Leaders of Tomorrow, Eta Sigma Delta and Maroon Madness. She volunteers in a variety of places. In Springfield, she has volunteered for Harmony House, Convoy of Hope and Relay for Life and in Kansas City for Steps for Down Syndrome and many others.

Kristin WahlKristin Wahl works and interned at Tropical Liqueurs as their lead bartender. Additionally, she works at Drury Inn & Suites as a guest service agent, bartender and cook. Outside of work, she is an active member of Hospitality Leaders of Tomorrow (president), Eta Sigma Delta Honors Society, Phi Alpha Theta (events coordinator) and Ancient Order of Hibernians (the Irish of St. Louis responsible for Dogtown Parade and events). Kristin volunteers through G.O.B.A (Greater Ozarks Bartenders Association) at events that benefit Shriner’s Kids Foundation, Wounded Warrior, Toys for Tots and individuals struggling during hard times. Other organizations she volunteers for are Convoy of Hope and The Kitchen Inc. Kristin has been on the Dean’s List and also received awards for the many marathons she has ran.
