Homecoming 2008 saw the beginning of a new tradition: the first Honors College Alumni Reunion. The weekend began with a reception at Scholars House hosted by Honors College Director, Dr. Art Spisak and Ms. Marcia Morriset, Honors College Academic Advisor and Recruiter. Saturday morning found many of the group gathering to watch the parade before meeting for a brunch in Juanita K. Hammons Hall for the Performing Arts. Alums from as far away as China, New York City and Houston enjoyed visiting with each other and hearing from university president Dr. Michael Nietzel and alumna Kelli Wolf, as well as donor Rich Young. Rich and his wife Doris have generously contributed to the Honors College by establishing the three Young Professorships, which have helped contribute to study away programs and the creation of new honors classes, as well as the production of the undergraduate research journal Logos.
