Members present: Barbara Bushman, John Catau, Bill Cheek, Frank Einhellig, Sue George, Martha Kirker, Etta Madden, Pete Richardson, Roger Sell, Don Simpson, and GA Linda Rogers.

The steering committee met at 9:00 a.m., Thursday, June 9th in the Academic Development Center.

Old Business

The committee met to review the compiled list of strengths and concerns that has been prepared by the writing committee over the chapters which relate to the cross-cutting themes. Each chapter, as well as the full report, will end with a summary of those strengths and concerns, as well as recommendations for future measures by the University to address those concerns. The writing committee’s draft of strengths and concerns will be revised and refined by the full committee, and the recommendations will be prepared last. At today’s meeting, the committee had many suggestions for additions and revisions to the lists; after two hours, the committee had covered the Future Oriented Organization, the Learning-Focused Organization, and the Connected Organization. It was decided to save the discussion on the Distinctive Organization until next week.

Etta will revise the lists of strengths and concerns for the chapters covered at today’s meeting according to the comments and suggestions made by the committee. She will incorporate these into the latest version of the self-study draft and send copies to the committee prior to next week’s meeting. At that time, the committee will review the strengths and concerns for the Distinctive Organization chapter as well as begin to formulate the recommendation portions of the report

Next week’s meeting, will be held at 9:00 a.m., Thursday, June 16th at the ADC office.
