2005 HLC Self-Study Steering Committee
Review of November 11, 2004 Meeting
Members Present: Jim Baker, Tom Dicke, Tammy Jahnke, Roger Sell, Don Simpson, and GA Linda Rogers
The steering committee met at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, November 11 at the ADC office.
Old Business
In the absence of committee chair Bill Cheek, Roger Sell called the meeting to order.
Short reports were heard from the committee members present on how their respective departments/offices are dealing with answering the charges. Tammy Jahnke reported that first drafts have been completed by all departments within the College of Natural and Applied Sciences, as well as the draft for the College’s own response. Jim. Baker stated that the online templates have helped make the job easier for him, and for others he has talked to. Don Simpson’s response will differ slightly from the on-line examples as he is not restating the questions, rather he is referencing the specific charges within his answers. Tom Dicke has been conducting on-line research into the methods other universities are using to prepare for the HLC at their institutions. It is his impression that the approach being used at Missouri State University is quite unique and involves more campus-wide input than most.
The next meeting of the committee will be on Thursday, November 18th.
