2005 HLC Self-Study Steering Committee
Review of September 9, 2004 Meeting
Members present: Barbara Bushman, John
Catau, Thomas Dicke, Frank Einhellig, Sue George, Tamera Jahnke, Martha
Kirker, Pete Richardson, Roger Sell, Don Simpson, Bill Cheek, and GA Linda
Rogers
The steering committee met at 10:00 a.m., Thursday,
September 9th at the ADC office.
Announcements
John Catau presented the Self-Study charges to a meeting of
CGEIP earlier in the week. The presentation went smoothly and the charges
were well received.
Lois and Bill will be presenting the charges to the Faculty
Senate at the Senate meeting later this day.
Sue George, Tammy Jahnke, and John Prescott are presenting a
panel discussion to Academic Administrators Assembly on Sept. 27. By that
date, the charges will have been sent out to departments and colleges. The
discussion will center on the "how-tos" of presenting the study to the
departments.
Old Business
Bill presented the final revision of the departmental
charges. The changes recommended by the committee had been incorporated and
the questions consolidated into four areas of focus. The committee then
looked at the proposed questions for the colleges. After discussion, it was
agreed that with appropriate changes and substitutions in wording, the same
questions that were formulated for the departments could serve as the basis
for the college charges.
The committee then looked at the prototypes for a graphic
which would help to convey the work of the HLC and would be used in the
final report. It was decided that a subcommittee should review the diagrams
and come up with revision suggestions for Jeanie Stevens of the ETC. Martha,
Tom, and Linda Rogers will work together on this.
The next meeting of the committee will be on Thursday,
September 16.
Respectfully submitted,
Linda Rogers
